Further Information:

A headstone marking the burial place of '12 Non Commissioned Officers, 8 Men' of the 1st Battalion and '1 Private, 2nd Battalion the Rifle Brigade'.

They were killed on the 6th January 1900 during a large Boer attack on the Camp.  In all 34 members of the 1st Battalion died during this attack, although according to the Regimental History only 8 were Non-Commissioned Officers.  The reason for the discrepancy is unknown.
